York High School kicks off Autism Awareness Month with a 5K Fun Run on April 1 at 8 a.m. The school's NeuroDiversity Club organized the event to celebrate individuals with Autism and their friends and families and raise awareness for our community members. Start your day by cheering on the participants, stopping by the bubble station, and getting a Wildcat tattoo. Runners will receive swag bags and prizes. All event proceeds will benefit the club.
During April, the Nubble Lighthouse will be illuminated at night in blue in recognition of Autism Awareness Month. YHS teacher Mr. Rosenberg (also the Nubble Lighthouse Keeper) and Special Education Ed Tech Mrs. Mace organized the installation of the blue lights with the parks department and the help of Griffin & Griffin Lighting to make this annual recognition happen. We are fortunate to have such a beautiful beacon in our town and the support of dedicated staff who bring this awareness to our community.
