Students in Ms. Jovanovich’s Algebra 2 class are using @desmosstudio to play “Guess Who” to practice their absolute value transformation vocabulary. What a cool way to use math 🐾

Even though we don't have school today, Wildcats, it doesn't mean you can't be motivated 🐾

This week's Wildcat Wednesday introduces our newest food service assistant, Charly Yorke! She is a YHS grad ('06) and staff may recognize her as Charly Ciampa. When she isn't serving up delicious food in our cafeteria she loves spending time with her two kids, doing anything outdoors, or just being spontaneous. Before joining our team at YHS she was a nanny for her brother's kiddos. When asked what she loves about her job she said "the ladies I work with" and "the friendly kids". Be sure to say hi to her the next time you're going through the sandwich line. Welcome to the team, Charly 🐾

Students in Mr. Regan's Foundations of Physical Education class enjoyed this beautiful fall day by playing a game of BirdieBall golf. Physical fitness coupled with sunshine sounds perfect 🐾

Some Monday motivation to get your week started, Wildcats 🐾

Students in Señora Caraballo's Spanish Class got to celebrate with a fiesta after winning a vocabulary and speaking game. Muy bien, Wildcats 🐾

Art I Honors students in Ms. Sunderland's class installed their prehistoric art today. It was a great representation of life with no WiFi. I love this creativity 🐾

Students in Mr. Wyatt's Computer Science class handled being "unplugged" this week! They were still able to complete activities related to networking, variable simulation with Blank Space stories, data discoveries, and iteration/algorithm development with strategy games (AKA "old school coding"). Love that this type of learning occurred in a COMPUTER SCIENCE class without the Internet 🐾

Frau Kyer's German 4 class is reading a biography of Arnold Schwarzenegger for their unit on personal and public identity. Yesterday they engaged in some "reader's theater" by turning the chapter into a dramatic reading-- students took the role of Arnold, his brother, and his parents (plus a narrator) and read the chapter aloud-- no screens or Internet needed! Love that this type of learning continued to happen despite the WiFi snafu 🐾

This week's Wildcat Wednesday features our new Educational Technician, Shawn Cola. Ms. Cola graduated from York High School back in 2005 and studied music performance at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA. She started working with York Adult Education as an English language instructor back in January of 2018 and became the student services coordinator in 2020. She has loved that experience. This past year she started as the district library floater, which gave her the chance to get involved with Extended School Year this summer, and the rest is history. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, gardening, and performing in choirs or at special events. We are so excited to have her joining us here at YHS 🐾

Another chance for a different class to hike through coniferous and deciduous forests while also exploring a pond and a bog. These students had a fun-filled day and got to use what they learned in the classroom to expand their understanding of the coursework. Thank you, Ms. Graham, for planning such a great trip for our students 🐾

A fun-filled (but tiring) opportunity for our AP Environmental Science students. They got to hike through coniferous and deciduous forests while also exploring a pond and a bog. What a way to use what they have learned in the classroom to expand their understanding of the coursework. Thank you, Ms. Graham, for planning such a great trip for our students 🐾

Happy Monday, Wildcats 🐾

This week's Wildcat Wednesday features our Physical Education Longterm Substitute Teacher, Chris La Croix. This is Mr. La Croix's first teaching position with the York School Department and he couldn't be more excited. After graduating with a B.S. in exercise science, Chris has spent the past 10 years in the fitness industry training everyone from the high school athlete to the 80-year-old pickleball player. He is an avid runner who also coaches other runners through his coaching business, All Seasons Endurance Training. He and his wife, Sarah, live in South Berwick with their 15-month-old Miles where they enjoy spending time out in nature, hanging out with family, and being involved with their church youth group. Please join me in welcoming Mr. La Croix to our Wildcat family 🐾

Happy Spirit Week, Wildcats!

It's Monday again, Wildcats 🐾 Let's do this Spirit Week 💪

Farm fresh... kale pesto and local veggies being served to YHS students!

Open House -- TOMORROW! We look forward to seeing you from 6:00-7:30 at YHS.

This week’s Wildcat Wednesday features Jill Darin, our new Educational Technician. Ms. Darin is entering her 5th year with the York School Department and is excited to be on board full-time in her Ed Tech position. She is grateful for her studies in adolescent development at SNHU and looks forward to working among the great colleagues at YHS. She is immensely happy to work with students she met over 4 years ago! It’s the students that truly keep her coming back into the school halls. Ms. Darin enjoys living in beautiful Cape Neddick and spends time watching anything and everything humorous, loves her time in the kitchen, but mostly loves spending time with her 2 beautiful daughters Abby and Maggie, and, her precious kitty Prudence. Please join me in welcoming Ms. Darin to YHS 🐾
