The first VES Library Book Swap will be taking place the week of June 5th. The concept is simple: students can bring in 1 gently used, age appropriate book before June 5th. Then during their regular library class that week, all students will select a "new to them" book to take home and keep. All students will take home a book even if their family did not send in a book to swap.

VES students from several kindergarten classes visited the Center for Wildlife in Cape Neddick today to learn about local wildlife up close and personal, including red tailed hawks like this one.

Last week the first grade classes took walking field trips to visit the Old York Historical Society and got a feel for what school life would have been like in a one room schoolhouse in the 18th century!

In the fall the first grade students worked hard to plant hundreds of daffodil bulbs in order to cut in the spring and give to York Hospital to cheer up patients. Today, despite the misty rain, the kids took to the yard to collect the blooms, and Kate Ford from YH, along with her daughter Emma, came to collect them!

Nothing says spring like frogs and tadpoles! Take a look at what the first grade teams here at VES are observing! We're pretty sure one of them is smiling and waving!
