Welcome Back, Wildcats! I hope you all had the BEST break. Just in case you need a reminder ... today is a BLUE day. Can't wait to see you all (oh and first block begins at 7:50 which means you should be in the building before 7:48!!) 🐾

York High School & Staff
Come check out some new and fun foods... with our collaboration with the Language Department

Volunteer Appreciation Month

We are so thankful for our peer listeners!

Congratulations to the 22-23 National Technical Honor Society inductees! These students represent all four career pathways and have all met the high academic standards required to be considered for NTHS in their SRTC program as well as here at YHS. In addition to their proven academic excellence, each of these students has been recommended by their teachers, showing that they exemplify the NTHS qualities of honesty, service, and leadership. There will be an induction ceremony planned on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:00 PM. We are so proud of you Courtney, Jasper, Kyle, and Olivia 🐾

Wildcat Wednesday is back! So excited to introduce Patrick "Patio" O'Rourke. He's one of the most important people in the building -- he keeps our WiFi going!! A fun fact about him is that in 2005 he and his wife, Courtney, traveled in a Winnebago for 8 months to 37 different states. He loves any kind of food (except stinky cheese like feta). Please stop by and say 👋 ...we are so lucky to have him 🐾

Join our School Counselors tonight for the Junior Parent Night. Lots of information for the Class of 2024 🐾

Congratulations to this year's Portland Sea Dogs Most Improved Students! They were nominated by one of their teachers based on their hard work and dedication. They will be recognized at a Sea Dogs game on April 23. We are so proud of Flint, Ty, TJ, Audrey, Josh, Kathryn, Cora, Brooke, and Madeline for representing the Wildcats in such a positive way 🐾

Statement from the York School Committee
Re: Superintendent Search
Dear YSD parents and guardians,
On Monday, the Bangor Daily News reported that Tim Doak has been selected as the next Superintendent of Schools of the York School Department. The announcement is a bit premature in that, by Maine statute, the decision to hire a superintendent of schools must be accomplished by a majority vote of the School Committee. After deliberations and discussions held in Executive Session on Wednesday evening, 29 March, the School Committee authorized the Chair to begin contract negotiations with Mr. Doak, and that process is proceeding on track to allow the required vote to occur at the regularly scheduled School Committee meeting on Wednesday, April 5. The other finalist candidate, CRES Principal Sean Murphy, was informed of the intentions of the School Committee on the morning of 30 March.
A press release and more robust announcement will follow the April 5th meeting. We invite you to join our public meeting in person at the York Public Library at 7pm; the meeting is also televised and available as a recording on our website following the meeting.
We appreciate the input and time invested by our school community and search committee in selecting our finalists.

Congratulations Matt! It is official!! We are so proud of all your accomplishments on the football field, with the shotput, and in the classroom. We look forward to hearing about your successes in the future as a Bates College Bobcat! @yhswildcats @gobatesbobcats

A very special THANK YOU to our own Mr. Rosenberg (aka the Nubble Lighthouse Keeper) and Mrs. Mace for organizing the installation of the blue lights for Autism Awareness Month. They have worked with the parks department and Griffin & Griffin Lighting to make this annual recognition happen. We are fortunate to not only have such a beautiful beacon in our town but to have you both working to bring this awareness to our community. THANK YOU 🐾

Congratulations to Sage Collis ('23) for being honored at the Old York Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizens ceremony. Diane Sanford, Good Citizens Committee Chair, stated that "Sage is a remarkable York High student and has won the DAR Good Citizen Essay Contest at the State level as well. You should be very proud." We absolutely are! Great work, Sage 🐾

SAVE THE DATE 🥞 Help support the JUNIOR class and fill your belly with delicious pancakes. Adults are $10 and Kids 12 or under are $3.

Seniors Kristen MacAuley and Hayden Cummings in the soundproof booth (aka the book closet!) channel their inner Sarah Koenig (IYKYK) while recording their true crime podcast during Podcasting class today. Can't wait to hear it!

Congratulations Ella! We are so proud of you for making it official as an Anna Maria softball player!! Coach G said she's a "great athlete, great softball player, great kid" and her parents shared (through tears) how extremely proud they are of her. We can't wait to see you play next year, Ella! @goamcats @yhswildcats @yorkmeathleticboosters
